Based on a mandate by the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol adopted at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali in 2007, the UNFCCC secretariat developed an interface for designated focal points (DFPs) on the UNFCCC joint implementation (JI) website (). DFPs of Parties that have informed the secretariat, in accordance with paragraph 20 of the JI guidelines (annex to decision 9/CMP.1), on their national guidelines and procedures for approving JI projects and host JI projects shall use the interface to: - Provide information to the international transaction log (ITL) on the establishment of JI Track 1 projects (i.e. projects implemented under paragraph 23 of the JI guidelines); - Provide transparent access to information on JI Track 1 projects and JI Track 2 projects (i.e. projects implemented under the verification procedure under the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), as specified in paragraphs 30–45 of the JI guidelines) published in accordance with paragraph 28 of the JI guidelines; and - Receive unique project identifiers of JI Track 1 projects and JI Track 2 projects to be used with the ITL. As a result, on the UNFCCC JI website an overview of JI Track 1 projects and JI Track 2 projects will be available (see ). JI Track 1 project information displayed is provided solely by the host Party. Regarding JI Track 2 projects additionally all the information generated under the verification procedure under the JISC is available.
