Project related text:
The purpose of the project is to reduce nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions created as by-product in the production of nitric acid (HNO3) at Yara's plant. The ammonia oxidation reactor in the production plant has been equipped with a catalyst developed by Yara. It is estimated that this will reduce nitrous oxide emissions by some 85 per cent. ERUs for the project are issued for any emission reductions below a specified benchmark emission level, which is clearly below the historical emission level. The estimate for the total number of ERUs during 2008-2012 was 176,315 tCO2e in the PDD. The issued amount is 128,121 tCO2e until December 19th, 2010.
