Project description

The Project (also called Nga Awa Purua) has commissioned 140MW of electricity generation by utilising steam capacity from the Rotokawa geothermal field underlying the land owned by Tauhara North No. 2 Trust, Tauhara 3B Trust and Wairakei Pastoral Limited.

The Project installed a flash steam geothermal plant and generator of 140MW in capacity, which is supplied with geothermal fluid from the Rotokawa geothermal field. Generated electricity is injected into the Transpower Grid at Rotokawa connection point on the Ohaaki-Wairakei lines.
