Call for public input on materiality and changes during project implementation

Background

At its twentieth meeting, the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) agreed on two areas for further work in 2010:

  • Concept of materiality in determinations and verifications;
  • Changes to projects during implementation following completion of the determination in accordance with paragraph 33 of the JI guidelines.

The JISC's decision was taken against the background of its mandate from the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol requesting the JISC in paragraph 10 of its draft decision to "conduct an assessment of the implications of possible inclusion of the concepts of materiality and level of assurance in joint implementation for the process of determinations referred to in paragraphs 33 and 37 of the joint implementation guidelines."

At its twentieth meeting the JISC also took note of information and analysis prepared by the secretariat on the two areas identified above (as was requested by the JISC at its nineteenth meeting). This document is available under: Information note on priority areas for consideration for further guidance by the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee.

The inputs from this public call will be compiled in an information note to be considered by the JISC at its twenty-first meeting and will be taken into account in preparing new or revised relevant documents.
