Call for inputs on draft revision of the JI Guidelines

Public inputs are solicited and encouraged on the attached document entitled Draft Modalities and Procedures for Joint Implementation. The document elaborates on the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee’s (JISC) view on how the JI mechanism should function in the future. Respondents are invited to provide written feedback, comments and suggested improvements to these draft JI guidelines. Based on this feedback, the JISC will further develop the document and will present it to the CMP at its eighth meeting.

Background

  • The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) at its seventh session requested the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), through its decision 11/CMP.7, to draft a revised set of key attributes and transitional measures for the first review of the joint implementation (JI) guidelines in accordance with decision 9/CMP.1, paragraph 8
  • Reflecting this CMP request, the JISC at its twenty-eighth meeting decided to also prepare revised draft JI guidelines that will be recommended to the CMP at its eighth session as an illustration of how the JISC’s recommendations on options for building on the approach embodied in joint implementation can be implemented.
  • Based on the feedback received by stakeholders through this public call for inputs, the JISC will finalize the draft JI guidelines for recommendation to the CMP at its eighth session.

The call for public input was open from 26 July 2012 until 31 August 2012 (24:00 GMT).
