UNFCCC Technical Workshop on Joint Implementation
Date: 9-10 March 2006
Venue: Hotel Hilton
The purpose of this workshop was to bring together experts from potential host and investor countries in order to discuss how to operationalize the framework for JI, following the decisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol in Montreal in December 2005.
The participants had the opportunity to exchange views on some of the critical issues related to the implementation of JI projects, including the role and functioning of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), and the next steps required in moving forward joint implementation. The workshop also served as a forum for sharing experiences in implementing the CDM with potential JI project participants and Party representatives.
More than 80 experts in the field of project-based mechanisms attended the workshop. The invitees to the workshop included members of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee and the CDM Executive Board, as well as representatives of designated national authorities and/or designated focal points.
