Paper factory Stambolijski is Pulp and Paper Mill.
The objective of the JI project is the utilization of biomass side products and improvement of the energy efficiency by reducing the energy consumption of the factory.

The production process in the pulp and paper mill requires steam produced on the basis of natural gas, mazut and black liquor. Barks and other wood wastes are readily available as side product and are land filled. The installation of a biomass boiler is to utilize the bark and the wood sediment material for thermal energy generation and to also prevent methane emissions. Additionally, the project envisages energy efficiency measures leading to GHG emission reductions by reduced consumption of natural gas, heavy fuel oil and electricity and switch from use of natural gas and mazut to biomass.

The biomass boiler is installed and in operation since June 2010. Thus, expected amount of emission reductions above has been calculated as prognosis in PDD per year.
Netherlands letter of approval to be uploaded later.
