Dorobantu wind project is the first renewable power project of OMV Group. The decision to invest in the wind project Dorobantu subscribed the general group objective to diversify the portfolio beyond the existing oil and gas business with power and renewable energy.
The wind farm is located in Romania in the region of Dobrogea, in an open area where the land is predominantly used for agricultural purposes. The wind farm consists of 15 wind turbines Vestas V90, 3 MW each with a total installed power of 45 MW.
The project generally contributes to:
-the environmental objectives assumed at national and EU level in terms of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions reductions; wind energy produced negligible pollution and greenhouse gas emissions during construction and none during commercial production;
-the economic development of a region generally categorized as undeveloped and with a high unemployment rate through the direct employments of personnel during the and indirect
-the improvement of the livelihood of the nearby communities through numerous CSR projects implemented in the area.
