Project Overview

Background

At its third session in Bali, the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP), in paragraph 4 of Decision 3/CMP.3, requested "the secretariat, inter alia, with a view to establishing an overview of all joint implementation projects, to develop a Web-based interface that shall be used by designated focal points of Parties that have provided information in accordance with paragraph 20 of the joint implementation guidelines and host joint implementation projects to:

(a) Provide transparent access to project information published in accordance with paragraph 28 of the joint implementation guidelines;

(b) Provide information to the international transaction log on the establishment of joint implementation projects implemented in accordance with paragraph 23 of the joint implementation guidelines;

(c) Receive project identifiers of joint implementation projects issued by the joint implementation information system, thereby ensuring their uniqueness, and used by the international transaction log".

On the basis of this mandate, the secretariat developed an interface that can be used by designated focal points (DFPs) of Parties that have informed the secretariat, in accordance with paragraph 20 of the JI guidelines, on their national guidelines and procedures for approving JI projects (see section "Parties Involved in JI Projects") for the operations mentioned above. As a result, below an overview of both, JI projects implemented under the verification procedure under the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), also referred to as JI "Track 2" projects, and JI projects implemented under paragraph 23 of the JI guidelines, also referred to as JI "Track 1" projects, can be provided per host Party.

Project overview

According to paragraph 28 of the JI guidelines a "Party hosting an Article 6 project shall make publicly available, directly or through the secretariat, information on the project in accordance with the reporting guidelines set out in appendix B ... and the requirements contained in decision 13/CMP.1". Regarding "Track 2" projects paragraphs 30-45 of the JI guidelines regulate the necessary steps under the verification procedure under the JI Supervisory Committee, including additional publication requirements.

Below, information on a "Track 1" project is listed with the project identifier (ID) used by the international transaction log (ITL) as soon as the relevant project information has been submitted by the host Party. "Track 1" project information is provided solely by the host Party.

A "Track 2" project is listed as soon as the corresponding positive determination is final in accordance with paragraph 35 of the JI guidelines, the ITL project ID is shown as soon as this determination is valid in accordance with paragraph 3 of Decision 10/CMP.1. "Track 2" project information displays information generated under the verification procedure under the JISC, in addition to that made available by the host Party.

The actual issuance, transfer and/or acquisition of emission reduction units (ERUs) depends, inter alia, on the eligibility status of the Parties.

Below project information can be searched by "Track" and host Party. Parties are displayed as soon as hosted projects are listed.
